Who We Are

Plainspoken Path ("we," "us," "our") operates PaperTrade Coach, a paper-trading education platform. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site or app, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address, a password (which we never store in plain text — it's hashed using bcrypt before it touches our database), and an optional display name.

Simulated trading activity. The trades, positions, drawings, and watchlist items you create inside the app. This is simulated data tied to a virtual cash balance — it does not represent a real brokerage account or real securities holdings.

Subscription and billing information. If you subscribe to a paid tier, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We do store your subscription tier, status, and Stripe's internal customer/subscription IDs so the app can reflect what you're subscribed to.

Usage and device information. Standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected through normal server logging and hosting infrastructure.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and operate your account, including authentication and session management.
• To generate the AI coaching feedback you receive after closing a simulated trade — this involves sending details of that trade (not your raw personal identity) to Anthropic's Claude API, which generates the narrative feedback you see.
• To process subscription payments and billing through Stripe.
• To fetch live and historical market data for charting, via Yahoo Finance — this is a one-way lookup of public price data and does not involve sharing your personal information with Yahoo.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the service.
• To communicate with you about your account, such as billing or security notices.

Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with the service providers that make the app work:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
• Anthropic — generating AI coaching narratives from your trade data.
• Neon — our database host, where your account and app data is stored.
• Vercel — our application hosting provider.

We may also disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Plainspoken Path or our users.

Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including password hashing and encrypted connections, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us — see Contact, below.

Your Choices

You can access or correct your account information from within the app. You can cancel a paid subscription at any time from the billing page. To request a copy or deletion of your data, email hello@plainspokenpath.com.

Children's Privacy

PaperTrade Coach is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Cookies

We use a single essential session cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected with a new effective date at the top of this page.
